Coin Street
In the 1980s, the derelict site of Coin Street was proposed for large redevelopment, but these plans were heavily resisted by the local community. The outcome created Coin Street community builders, a social enterprise that is active to fund schemes and put back into the community. This community-led regeneration programme provides local insight on what local people need and want. This level and activeness for community participation makes local peoples opinion and involvement feel more valuable, and this engagement is crucial for development success.

Chocolate factory
Between 1980-1996 The Chocolate Factory was largely derelict. Funding was granted and the building was converted into studios for the creativity industry at a low rent, to put back into the building. This array of creative arts professionals working from this location created a vibrant transformation and connected cultural identity within the area. Over time, the array of skills and professions changed the perception connected with the Chocolate Factory, and instead, the mixture of professions intrigued different people to the area.

Amsterdam EAST DOCKLANDS
Amsterdam's objective was to address the housing shortage by creating new communities through a planned approach, led by the public sector. They managed to create new flats along the riverfront, with the inclusion of restaurants and pubs too. This created an attractive social hub that enabled people to vacate and use it in many different ways,
