Heritage Building

Our masterplan is orientated around the previous dockworker's cafeteria. The building allocation and appearance are shown to the right of this paragraph.

The vision aims to revitalise this Grade II listed buildings by introducing new uses through updating, but continuing to be sensitive to the historic identity attached and maximise significance.

We will incorporate The English Heritage Trust, a charitable organisation that supports historic conservation and provides guidance to enhance.

The design will incorporate shipping containers for pop-up shop and event purposes. This provides adaptable spaces, rustic attractiveness and relates to the Docklands history. The location is shown in the masterplan.

Case Study: The Chocolate Factory

The Chocolate Factory in Wood Green, London was once a derelict site. When funding was granted, the building was converted into studios for the creative art industry at a low rent to get people using the building. This transformation created a vibrant and interesting place, whilst connecting the cultural identity within the area.

Like the Chocolate Factory, we want to modify the current derelict and unused building into somewhere that people want to spend time in. The creation of the culinary school hopes to reactivate the building, but also connect to the original building use - a cafeteria for dock workers. Like the chocolate factory, we want this building to be accessible to all people and provide the opportunity to learn, remember and engage in the historic and cultural identity connected.
