Social Infrastructure

Social Infrastructure plays a crucial role to create an inclusive and coherent community. Newham suffers from split communities, however, this infrastructure inclusion will encourage people to travel to, or move around the site, naturally improving social cohesion.

Design Ideas

Seating

We have included multiple benches throughout the site to enhance social participation, and a space for rest, and observation. This inclusion promotes accessibility for all members of the community.

The masterplan includes details for moveable furniture throughout to enhance flexibility and adaptability - a post-covid improvement.

Playpark

A small playground will be incorporated to promote social interaction for young ages. This type of access will help promote health, provide opportunities to learn and develop through play, and encourage independence within a safe environment.

Shared Spaces

Intentionally the vision promotes shared spaces to empower a connected community. We want all areas to be accessible to all people to support the level of diversity of the Newham Community.

Bike Racks

To support sustainable movement, we have incorporated a large, safe bike storage unit to support people to move and travel.
