The Royal Docks

Regeneration Project

About

The Royal Docks site is an important and ambitious regeneration project in East London. The project is an arc of opportunity to transform the current redundant site into an exciting, high-quality vibrant place.

Investment will reactivate and renew the great water city, and this potential will aid deprived areas of Newham as this will act as a central hub to orientate activation.

We have been asked to develop our ideas into key principles and design actions to create a masterplan for a parcel of land on the allocated site. The allocated site for the masterplan is shown below. This section was chosen for regeneration due to the placement of the heritage building and the main site access point from public transport infrastructure.

The heritage building selected was the former docklands cafeteria and our plan objectives aim to provide a more detailed proposal regarding design and uses.

Lastly, we have focused linking the physical environment to socio-economical and cultural characteristics.

Vision

To create a vibrant place for all people through high quality design, focusing on waterfront activation and the retention of local heritage and cultural assets.
